Well we slept in, had breakfast, hooked up and started to our next destination. Let me tell you along the Mexican border is mikes and mikes of land, ranches and nothing! 179 of varied sage brush and cactus 🌵 🌵. We did see a few cows, the border fence, and lots of border patrol. We pretty much had the road to ourselves. Dave played chicken with the Gad tank, not knowing how hilly it was. But we made it to a one pump wonderful dilapidated gas station. 9 miles to spare and 21 to the next station!
Maynard was sad he didn't see more cows so he had the learn to crochet with me. On a yarn mission to clean up left over yarn. So Chickens and Gnomes it is so far!
We are settled in for the next two nights I. Del Rio Texas. We will venture out tomorrow. They have a big H.E.B. here so you know that's on the list! There is a nice lake we will go check out.
In true Texas style the humidity is 60% and 91 degrees....feels like 101! I'll take 101 in AZ any day over this. It's just the beginning I know. Think it's the end of makeup and cute hair!. Dave is dripping too ...made me feel better. But he's a trooper and sitting outside acclimating. Me not so much. I'll try I promise 😁.
Yesterday was cut short on the information....we loved our drive. We really liked Marfa TX. Artsy and a well kept main street.
I mentioned the Prada exhibit. It was built in 2005 by an artist form New York. It literally is on the side of the road, chain link fence behind it. Has true Prada wear inside with a glass front.
Marfa has tons of galleries and charming coffee and food spots. They have many art festivals. The next picture of Conex boxes are new in a gold outside of town. Yes they didn't 200k on it. So much to see.
We stayed just outside of Alpine on the road to big Bend Forrest. We drove into the mountains a bit. Very pretty.
We visited the town. We saw the beautiful Sal Russ Campus and toured the town. Dave had found a taco and burrito place he wanted to try. It was actually a stationary food truck set up on this great court yard with picnic table and umbrellas. Right next to the university ball field. They also had a drive through store! Hotdogs, nachos, daiquiri, sweet tea etc. Dave drove me to the front do I could take pictures. Brian Hershman this place has you written all over it!
The food was amazing and huge. We had a little siesta after eating!.
We also were interested in the mini homes made out of shipping containers and used as Air BNB's. They were darling.
Tonight we are camping omg the trees and Dave has set up his new grill. We will text it out with some burgers tonight.
Tomorrow a day of exploration and laid back time..

Awe! Cute!!
Who’s Maynard? I think I now know from your pics … the crocheted Cow?
