We made our way to Berthoud, Colorado. We are staying with my God daughter and family. We have the camper parked on Dan's farm. Good choice since the grandson's think that they still need to still be working on cars at midnight. So staying at Grandpa's around the corner is a better plan.

It sure is nice to be with everyone. They have welcomed Dave with open arms.

We had a great stir fry dinner, cooked by Mason for dinner Tuesday night.

Wednesday we took Georgia with us on and adventure to Boulder. Of course I was born there and grew up there. Dave used to visit Boulder in the summer. They would stay in cabins at Chitaqua. We think we probably saw the same movies at the same time there!

We dove up Boulder Canyon, so much has changed. All the nice picnic tables and spots no longer exist. We both have found memories of that creek and wading in the cold water. We drove through Nederland and noticed that is not just a few houses anymore!

Then we drive the peak to peak highway that led us back to Estes Park. Beautiful scenery and snow topped mountains. Low temp of 42, high of 75 during our travels that day.

We drove up Flagstaff mountain. A great place to look out over the city of Boulder. We could see the highway to Denver, the highrise dorms at CU, the university, and so much more. A nice clear day.

We Drove through Chitaqua, Dave remembering cabins they had stayed in, the friends he had made there, and all the hikes he took as a young teenager. We Saw Mr Marcus's cabins, who became good friends. Yes the Marcus from Nieman and Marcus. Dave shared stories of climbing the Flat Irons. Those are the flat rock on the mountain face in Boulder.

We drove by my highschool, Fairview. I have to say probably the most scenic view from any highschool parking lot ever!

We even drove by the elementary school I attended.

We made our way out South Boulder Road. We drove all through my childhood hood neighborhood. It was devastated by fire 4 years ago. My house, Lance:s house and Margy's house survived. There was some damage to out buildings and trees. So many child hood friends lost homes. I had visited about 6 months after the fire. 3 years later it's nice to see many being rebuilt. Some lots cleaned up and now for sale. Beautiful huge new home bring built. Emotional still, however nice to see things being renewed.

We took the back roads back to Berthoud and loved driving through the farmland and fields. More like the Boulder of yesteryear.

Another great dinner with family. Kira made us breakfast for dinner. Yummy.

Thursday found us taking care of some maintenance in the camper. Our kitchen sink had restricted water flow. Dan took it all apart and finally found the clog In a fresh water hose. Dave tightened the drain. They repaired some trim that had come loose. The heat and travel sure do loosen things up.

We headed to two different stores to get paint to paint the emblem on our new hub can to match. That was an ordeal but we got it done. Some time in April we saw it was missing. Upon further review someone had stolen it, taking the full mounting and everything. We had to order a new one. It came in black , and the others were orange.

Mason was so kind tonight and got them painted. We will reassemble tomorrow.

Had a great burger at Grandpa's Cafe here in town with Dave, Dan, and Brian.

Early night with a 🍿 movie.

Friday Kira took us up through Drake, where we had to stop for Cinnamon rolls at the general store. Then we headed back to Estes, we visited Wayne and Michelle in their new home. So beautiful and peaceful tucked back in 40 acres with a stunning view. Nice to catch up and see life time friends.

We headed to the YMCA Camp in Estes. I went there as a kid, they have a family camp that I have done over the years with Kira and family. Kristina and Mike have joined us too. We hope that some day we will be able to have all the Jones family together there. So much to do and such a beautiful setting. We drove up to the outdoor chapel, so peaceful and definitely in God's amazing landscape. One of my favorite places,

I got to share with Kira and Dave today.

We saw deer, Elk and a bobcat today. All up close!

After a quick lunch we came back through the canyon and Lyons. The grass and trees are so green and the creeks are full of run off. Perfect day.

Homemade tamales and street corn for dinner! Of course chips, salsa nd queso rounded it out.

It's been a busy week we are all tired.

Georgia and Cleo played hard. They are tired dogs!

I love visiting Colorado, however glad I live in AZ.
