I'm getting flak I've been in radio silence for a few days! So here's the update! We had a great time with Christie and Keith. We will always be "family".
Saturday morning the girls came over so we could bake cinnamon rolls from scratch together. Kind of a tradition. We had a wonderful breakfast then hit busy making 9 large pans of cinnamon rolls. Yummy. We had to keep Will away from them. It was a drizzly day outside.
Christie and I tried to get the BOGO at urgent care that afternoon. They didn't go for it. She had some kidney pain. My knee was killing me. She got pills I got an Astroid.... steroid shot in the ass. Wanted one in my knee but they could not do that. It has helped thank goodness.
I helped Kaitlyn make yummy Mexican food for us all that evening. We had chicken fried tacos on white, pork fajitas and bean dip with all fixings.
Dave used his new cast iron pan for some yummy peach cobbler for dessert.
Suzy got us all wound up playing hand and foot. New rules for this girl so I had to pay attention. It got a little bit competitive. We laughed and had a great night. Stayed up late!
Had to see what the whole damp rid thing was about. This dry climate girl has never used them. I have them hanging in the trailer. In less than 8 hours there was an inch of water! I knew it was humid!
I also was appreciative of my hairdryer for the medium setting....towels just didn't work. It is just soggy here!
Sunday found us touring the North Shore and Mansions. So many beautiful homes. One can dream🧡
Mandeville is a beautiful town.
We went to Don's seafood. Yummy shrimp and catfish. Dave was in search of Gumbo he had fallen in love with years ago. After researching we realized what he was looking for was Creole Gumbo. More of a tomato base. We will be making that at home I'm sure. Our Linner was yummy. We wanted to go out for a boat ride but the weather did not cooperate. It was just nice to be together. We went to see Kaitlyn's cute new house. She had done a ton of work and it's darling.. proud of you!
We had left overs for a snack and just had family time. So many stories to tell.
Monday found us packing and heading to our next stop. We travel the back roads as much as we can. We like to see the local flavor and life style.
We saw fruit and vegetable stands today. Unfortunately they were not in a place we could pull over. We were in 4 states today. LA, MS, AL, FL. We saw the beach most of the way. Traveled over bridges and causeways. Had our second tunnel of our trip.
We were very impressed with many of the small towns we traveled through.
We saw more farming communities and beautiful pastures. The sand in the beach turned white the closer we got to Biloxi.
We went past Kessler AFB. We saw the USS Alabama. And again so many houses and businesses flying out flag proudly. One street was lined with flags. Sure makes you proud to be an American.
We felling love with the little town of Fair Hope in Alabama. It just was inviting and had a good feel. So beautiful. Dave calls that area Redneck Riviera. It fit, artsy, beautiful, little shops you wanted to go into, bakeries and cafes. Just felt right! Tempting enough we pulled up Zillow to take a peak.
We continued to traverse the water and bridges to get us through to Florida. It has been a long time since I've been here! The white sandy beaches are calling my name.
We arrived at my cousin's in Navarre Beach. Set up the trailer in the driveway and had a great visit this afternoon. We are both a bit tired and have chosen to call it done early tonight. It's a beautiful area and we look forward to exploring tomorrow.
Hope I get to find some seashells so I can feel like a kid again.
This is the first day of week three, where had the time gone. We are having a wonderful time.
Sounds wonderful...I would love trying all the southern foods...the sights sound great too...glad to hear your having such a great time..
