It has been 2 super busy days. We are in Memphis staying with Dave's sister and Brother in law. They have graciously opened there beautiful home to us. We are staying in Dave's mom house that is attached to theirs. Joan, Dave's mom lives in assisted living very near by now. The trailer is parked on the street.
We had a great trip on the back roads from Nashville yesterday. 179 miles and 11 Dollar General stores. Farming communities. The terrain is getting a little less hilly.
The neighborhood here in Memphis is older with huge beautiful trees and lovely homes.
It was nice to meet Dave's sister Gwen and her husband Penn. They picked up Dave's. Mom and she joined us for dinner.
We had great Memphis BBQ sandwiches and beans. Yes I ate all the beans they were so good. We even all got a bite of a BBQ bologna sandwich. Not bad i must say?.
We visited and got to know each other. Thank you all for the warm reception.
We slept in this morning. Had a nice breakfast and headed to the Kroger for the last few things we needed for dinner. We made enchiladas and tamales. Guac and beans for dinner and fried ice cream. Think it was a hit. Just the 5 of us. Nice to hear the stories and learn about each other.
I am grateful for the loving family has. It has been a lovely 2 days.
I forgot to talk about the picture of the broken bowl on the floor. First tragedy of the trip. One broken cereal bowl. We had a little water glowing on the counter as well. The dink handle had been turned on while traveling. As soon as Dave hooked up the water here it came. But not down the sink, oh
no flooded the counter. Needless to say the counter and the floor got a good scrub. I'll take it. We have been blessed with mo.othet issues.
The other picture was the icepick. Dave thought I was crazy bringing it. We have used that daily and several times a day. It was my mom's old one. Probably 50 years old.
Hopefully some pool time tomorrow.
