Well it is the rainy season they say! We had boating plans today and had to cancel for safety sake. Before we even had breakfast we had about a 15 min steady rain. The radar expected us to get another 8 inches of rain today.

We cancelled our boat outing.

Julie fixed us an amazing breakfast.

We headed out About 10 am to Sanibel Island and Captiva island. Charles took us in a great tour. It was mostly Sunny......go figure. We saw the devastation that still has not been dealt with from hurricane Ivy 2 years ago. The have repaired the bridges and causeways. The public beach areas along the causeway are still heavy equipment and construction zones. They are working really hard to get it finished. Interesting to see how they reinforce the sea wall and structures. Sad to see the devastation still untouched 2 years later. Many businesses boarded up and in ruins. Some announcing opening soon.

We drive through the nature preserve. Unfortunately we saw zero wildlife. We did Google a few plants and learned about the wild grapes and mangrove bean pods.

Captiva island was full of gorgeous home. Huge home with private beach access. Many looked recently rebuilt and construction was going on on many of them.

Charles and Julie took us to one of their favorite beach bar hangouts.

Bimini Bait Shack. Complete with thatched roof and fish tank for the bar top. Weird to see fish swimming by you hand on the bar! Complete with live music. Thank you

We headed home saw lots of dark clouds still no rain. Dave and Charles both took naps. Julie and I chatted and enjoyed each other as I did 2 loads of laundry. Thank for not making me do the laundry mat!

Julie, Charles and I swam for awhile before dinner. The pool was warm but do refreshing. Nice to look out o. The canal out back.

We had a wonderful dinner out on the patio. Just nice to be outside. We have not been Able to be out due to the humidity and heat. The ceiling fans sure helped.

Calling it a might soon. We will head north tomorrow. The Everglades are getting hot hard with rain. We opted to pass on a rainy swamp tour.

It has been a great visit. Such wonderful hospitality. 🧡

Ps it still has not rained again!
